Himba Bride Dressed by Mother, Namibia On the evening before the wedding, a bride's mother lovingly applies ocher and perfumed butterfat to her daughter's hair and body. As a final touch, she places a ceremonial headdress called ekori on the girl's head. This goatskin headdress has been passed down through several generations, and will be worn by the bride during the first month of marriage.
