Spinning Bobo Funeral Mask, Burkina Faso At Bobo funeral ceremonies, many masked dancers perform to exhort the dead who have not been able to escape their earthly abode. The masks confront the lost souls in a series of ritual dances, driving them away to the spirit world. When the dances are over, the exorcism of the lost souls is complete, and the village is purified.
